Kannyakumari


The southern most city situated at the tip of India. This is one of the cities in Tamil Nadu. A lot of well crafted temple you can see here . It is named for goddess Kannyakumari. . One can see the sunrise and sunset at the beach of Kannyakumari.
 Below , I have mentioned some beautiful and historical sight that you can visit in Kannyakumari. In the above image there you can see the statue of Thiruvalluvar and Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

Thiruvalluvar Statue and Vivekananda Rock Memorial

Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a popular tourist monument in Kannyakumari, India. It was built in 1970 in honour of Swami Vivekananda who is said to have attained enlightenment on the rock. Thiruvalluvar Statue is a very tall made up of stone and concrete. It is the statue of famous Tamil poet and philosopher Valluvar.

                            Vattakottai Fort

Vattakottai Beach

It is built in 18th century during the Travancore Kingdom. It is 5-9 km from the Kannyakumari town. The fort is made up of Granite block and now some parts of the fort extends to the sea. It is one of the popular tourist places of the town.

Udaygiri Fort

It is 56 mins away from Kannyakumari beach. is built by MARTHANDA VARMA with a foundary for casting guns. It is now maintained by forest department as tourist destination. Here you can see zoo, an old church and few cremetery. Below I have attached an image of remnants of a manufacturing unit built by Raja Marthanda Varma(1729 - 1758) for manufacturing arms and ammunition.You will get some readings on the board hanged near the remnants.

Padmanabhapuram Palace

It is situated in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. A beautiful palace with lot of old and strong construction pillars and statues. The palace consist of many rooms, bathroom without any tap, many windows , a beautiful erected bed and swing , well cleaned mirror where the Rani used to get ready, the court if Raja and his Singhasan. Some old photoframe  of areraja and their successor and ancestors hanged in the wall. There is a big garden also. Perfect place of history and it take you to think about their life style.

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial

Mahatma Gandhi Mandapam is a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi located at a seashore, near to Kumari Amman Temple, where his ashes were kept for public darshan before immersion in the sea on February 12, 1948.

                 Kamarajar Mani Mantapa

It is built at the seashore in Kannyakumari.
Mantapa and Gandhi ji Mandapam are located side by side.

One can see many beautifully constructed temple with a religious belief.
